Thungyai-Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuaries is located along Myanmar border. There are many kinds of forest types that can be easily found in the continental South-East Asia region. This is a home for diverse array of large mammals (especially tigers and elephants, large birds, and any other vertebrates. It is located in the north west of Bangkok. The best time to go to this location is around February to April, because the temperature is cooler.
In this area, you can find many kinds of interesting sanctuary such as Phytogeographically, Montane Evergreen forest, Mixed Deciduous forest, Dry Dipterocarp, and many more. If you want to reach this location, you can take a public bus or train from Hua Lampong Train Station. It may takes for about 8 hours from the city center. The rest of the forest in here is to support for many kinds of trees such as bamboo and dipterocarp in the shallow soil. It is also have rivers and streams around it. Thung Yai is become very popular because it has two specific areas which have a lot of uniqueness. The first, you can see the large grassland plain which is surrounding by the savannah forest and Phoenix palm that can’t found elsewhere in Thailand. The second is that you can find the most extensive riparian forests in Thailand.
There are a lot of species that can be found in Thungyai-Hai forest. The most common found in here is Elephant. Elephant is the most important part for Thai’s people. There are plenty of elephant’s community in this area.
