A Celtic tribe named Vacceos built the Salamanca city in pre Ancient Rome era. Salamanca is the Salamanca province capital city and it is also the place for education is Spain and even more Europe. One of the first universities in the world was built in this city and it is built by Alfonso X of Leon in 1218. Because of this circumstance, Salamanca was called by the Pope Alexander IX as one of the world leading light because of the education development support in this city. This city also becomes part of European Capital Culture. Spring and autumn is the best season for visiting this area not only because of the weather but also because of the festival season.
Plaza Mayor can be the landmark of this city but there are some other buildings which can be landmark as well or at least it can be great place to be visited. Old Cathedral and New Cathedral have great architecture application. The University, House of Shells, Roman Bridge, and Convento de San Esteban should also be visited in the city although there are also some beautiful villages near the city. Because this city does not have airport, the flight will be taken to Barcelona and bus can be taken to reach Salamanca and during the stay in the city, bus or taxi can be found although foot it the best.
There is Virgen de la Vega fiesta which will provide great cultural experience. Enjoying food is a must because there are tapas which has pork product as the famous tapas.
