Bellinzona – City of Three Castles in Europe

Bellinzona is the canton Ticino administrative capital in Switzerland. For finding this city, people have to go to the Alps foot and the Ticino River east side. Roman Emperor Augustus reign founded this town during the late of 1st century BC. Bellinzona was the trade center in the Alps area and it grew greatly under the Visconti control. The growth of the city and the invasion made this town has some castles which is very identical with Bellinzona today. Winter and spring is absolutely the best time for enjoying this city without strong winds which can ruin the city exploration.

The three castles which can be found in this city of course is the most crucial landmark of this town however totally there are twelve buildings which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The three castles include Castelgrande, Montebello, and Sasso Corbaro castle. There is no airport can be found in this city but people can take the train from the nearest city with airport such as Locarno and Lugano. For exploring the city, people can take the bus support or they can hire car for more personal experience.

The carnival Rabadan which has been held for about 150 years becomes the main attraction which is really popular among the tourists. This city also has football team which is named AC Bellinzona.
